The Owner/Director of AB Realtime Reporting, Alan first trained in court reporting and began working in the Crown Court in Newcastle, UK, in 1988, then moved to London in 1995 to begin a long career working for Marten Walsh Cherer in the High Court in London, providing realtime reporting and regularly working on same day transcription of proceedings in the Patents Court, Queen’s Bench Division, Family Court, Technology & Construction Court and the Court of Appeal, as well as disciplinary hearings, Coroners’ Inquiries and other types of hearing/interview. This involved working on many technical, complex and highly confidential cases.
Alan has worked in arbitrations in London, Europe, the Middle East, and India, and is well versed in arbitration procedures under LCIA, ICC and UNCITRAL rules and working in the DIAC and DIFC in Dubai and in the QICDRC in Qatar.
Alan has extensive experience in reporting US depositions and Canadian Examinations in London, the UK, Europe and as far afield as Djibouti in Africa. These have included personal injury, insurance/reinsurance, intellectual property and commercial cases, as well as DOJ and other US Government agency matters.
Alan also works as a Speech to Text Reporter, providing live captioning support to deaf and hearing-impaired clients on a one-to-one basis, remotely and in larger conference settings. This has involved working with organisations such as Microsoft, NHS England, Barclays, EY and at the People’s Question Time for the Mayor of London.
Alan is fully experienced in working remotely for any type of deposition or hearing using Zoom or other platforms.
